What is Alpha?
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation.
Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone's welcome. It runs in cafés, churches, universities, homes—you name it. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common:
food, a talk and good conversation!
Alpha at St. John's Church
Every year we run Alpha courses at St. John’s Church, Langdon Hills.
Please see the link above with a film series from Alpha to help you find out more.
Alpha is a really good way to investigate the Christian faith in a friendly and unpressurised environment.
This Spring, Alpha will be running on Thursday evenings starting 9th May at 7.30pm. We will begin with puddings, tea and coffee (so just have some dinner before you come!), followed by a DVD film on an aspect of the Christian faith followed by discussion in small groups. You can say anything you like or nothing at all. Much of the strength of Alpha lies in the friendships that are built and the open nature of the discussions where people are encouraged to ask questions and express their views.
- Would you like the opportunity to explore some big questions about life and faith?
- To get together with others who are asking similar things, to chat, to laugh, to build bonds that last , all in an informal and relaxed environment..... AND to eat together too?
- If so we would really love to welcome you on Alpha.
Why not come to our Launch Evening on Thursday 9th May 2024, 7.30pm - starting with puddings, tea and coffee. The theme for the evening is ‘Is there more to life than this?'
